61/365 – Ben & Molly

I shot my first solo wedding today! My good friend, Ben, got married today, to an absolutely amazing woman I might add. I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot the wedding for them, and had such a wonderful day with them.

I didn’t know for sure if I would feel up to getting this posted after such an exhausting day, but I decided I didn’t want to be an extra day behind since I will be unable to post for a week now (because of a camping trip to Rocky Mountain National Park, for those of you who didn’t see yesterday’s post). I didn’t even go through all of the pictures to decide on one, just some of the ones of just the lovely couple alone, and absolutely loved this one. I just did a super quick edit so I would have something to share for tonight.

Now I am off to get a couple of hours of sleep since we are off early in the morning to start our trip. I will be back in a week to share some (hopefully) amazing pictures!

60/365 – Polaroid

Meet my newest camera! I found this on Etsy last week and fell in love with it. Because of my trip, I had it shipped directly to Minnesota so it was here waiting for me when I got home. Unfortunately I have hardly any film for it (only 8 frames), so I am saving them for my big trip coming up (which will be explained below).

This may be a good time for a quick run down of my life and how my 365 will be kept up in the coming days. I am shooting a good friend’s wedding all day tomorrow, and it will be the first wedding that I have shot alone, so it will be a big test for me. Because it is a friend, I will likely stay at the reception after I am done shooting to catch up with friends, so I may not get a chance to get my 365 uploaded tomorrow. Then, Saturday morning I am packing into the car with my family and we are headed out to my brother’s house in South Dakota. It will be yet another day spent in the car for me, so again, getting a 365 may be interesting. And uploading it will be even more interesting. And finally, on Sunday we are all headed to Rocky Mountain National Park for a week of camping and hiking (and for me, picture-taking). I am so incredibly excited, but of course I will be unable to upload for the entire week, and will just be unavailable in general. But, amazing pictures are to come I hope! So bear with me for the next week or so, and be sure to stick around to see the big things that I have coming!

59/365 – Triple

I know I just did a shot the other night with water, but I got this idea in my head and couldn’t wait to try it. Luckily I had my mom to help me out with dropping some pebbles since I am home. It is always a tricky enough process to time my dropping with my pressing of the button on my remote and then the shutter actually being released, but adding another person in to the mix made it even more difficult to get the timing right. There were very few pictures (out of a lot taken) that actually had a splash in all three glasses. Either one of us missed entirely, or would go early or late, or the remote wouldn’t work, or I just time it wrong with the remote. But we managed to still get some awesome shots. And, it was nice having someone else to experience the strange looks that I always get from neighbors or people driving by.

58/365 – Home!

For the first time in 9 months I am finally back home in Minnesota! I left this morning and drove 12 hours, so it was such a relief to finally pull into my driveway and see my parents house.

57/365 – Drip Drop

I was going to do a self-portrait tonight, but got a little bit lazy in terms of my picture. I am leaving for Minnesota in the morning, and I have been running around like crazy trying to get everything packed and get the house ready for me to be gone for over 3 weeks.

Also, I have some exciting news! I entered a contest through Photographer’s Forum Magazine a bit ago. There were over 14,000 photographs submitted, and the top 11% were selected as finalists. Well, I got a letter in the mail today informing me that I am a finalist! That means that my photograph will be published in their hardcover book Best of Photography 2011. I also make it to the final round of judging as a finalist, and I will find out August 15th if I place or get honorable mention. Such an exciting bit of news before I go home!

56/365 – Rainy Bokeh

I had big plans for my picture today, but then had such a crazy busy day. I leave to go home for on Tuesday and I have been running around trying to get everything ready for that, and also catching up with a few people before I leave. Then the storms tonight made my shot even more impossible, so I ended up with this.

55/365 – Clouded

I did some more experimenting today, and loved the results. More to come later on!

54/365 – Storms

I had other plans for my picture today, but then I saw these storm clouds rolling in and I couldn’t resist. Unfortunately it moved a bit too fast and was too close for me to get a good shot of the entire thing like I wanted. A wider lens would have helped out as well, but I still am happy with it.

53/365 – Curves

I had no clue what to take a picture of today, until my friend dropped some stuff off at my house and commented on this metal piece. I debated for a while about making this black and white, but in the end decided to just go with color. I may post a black and white at some point though.
