93/365 – Moleskins

My photo one professor got me hooked on Moleskin notebooks, and since I am started up a new project/series I thought it would be nice to have a blank journal to sketch and write ideas in.

I am really hooked on super simple shots at the moment, perhaps tomorrow I will get push into something else.

This gallery contains 21 photos.

I have been using my Holga (which is a cheap, plastic, toy film camera) a lot more recently, and though I have uploaded pictures to Flickr I haven’t shared any here. So I thought I would create a quick post … Continue reading

91/365 – Shattered

I started shooting for this semester’s project tonight, which brought me to my friend’s storage unit. Her and her husband were reorganizing things and found some broken frames so I grabbed a few pictures after getting my project shots out of the way.

My project (as of now) is focusing on things that hold us back. Things like money, time, possessions, et cetera. So, I would love to hear, what holds you back?

90/365 – Flies

I went on a much needed photo adventure with a friend tonight, and we stumbled on some horses while driving the back roads. This one had flies all over his face, yet the other three that were with him all had the mesh masks on. He was extremely friendly though, and came right up to us for some pictures.

89/365 – The Web

I think this is the earliest I have done my 365 yet this project. It is such a relief having it done this early. And, I love being able to just go out, set things up quick and have everything go extremely smooth, get some good shots, and be done. Such a great feeling to start the day with!

88/365 – Miniature Planet

Just like yesterday I was taking one set of photographs and happened on another. I liked my other ones, but was thinking my 365 needed a macro and abstract shot since it had been a while. I plan on re-shooting the other idea at some point, once I get some more materials.

As for this shot, does any one have any guesses as to what it is?

87/365 – Show Off

I was out in my front yard laying on the grass taking pictures this evening, and kept getting looks like I was crazy, and even getting honked and hollered at in the process. I was about to head inside since I got ones that I really liked, when I saw this monarch butterfly sitting there. I just couldn’t pass it up, the lighting was perfect, and the butterfly didn’t move beyond opening and closing its wings.

86/365 – Masked

Once again, I had something in mind and it just didn’t work out so I improvised and came up with this. It still conveys a similar idea, so I am happy about that. And I still plan on trying my original idea at some point, I just have some planning to do first, so be on the look out for that! And, I just realized that I did two night shots in a row, oops.

One last quick note. My self-portraits are generally speaking very personal, and have a lot of meaning for me. But I always wonder if that meaning is comes across through the image, or if it is just in my mind that it works. So I am curious to hear some thoughts on my self-portraits and what you think they could mean or represent; please share!
