Oh, I was just out there the other day and put some pictures of the Kansas River on my blog too. Great minds … right? Anyhow. The river, as you saw, is amazingly low. Since you just moved here recently, you haven’t seen it really flowing. I like the composition in your photo.
I actually saw your post before I went out there! I shot a self-portrait there around thanksgiving, and had wanted to go back to shoot the bridge for a while, and I think your post finally made me do it. So thank you!
And I know it was higher even earlier this fall when I went past it, though it is hard to imagine it ever being a full, raging river.
Is the self-portrait on your blog? If so, I shall have to go look for it.
Normal for the Kansas River would be looking like a river, not a puddle. It is only a full, raging river when there are heavy rains and flooding north of here, which does sometimes happen.
