Elliot (my boyfriend) is a computer science major and works for a place that deals with laptops (selling, trading, buying, repairing) at the moment. So he has access to a ton of computer parts that no longer work and would just get thrown out. He likes to teach me about computers, and brought me this hard drive to look at a bit ago, and I kept it to take pictures of (because I am just as much of a nerd as he is). Well tonight he wanted to see what happened when he took a lighter too it. The answer to that question is nothing. At least at the moment. He then put some pressure on it just as he was walking away and it busted. So in case any of you were curious, hard drives can take serious amounts of heat, at least until they get pressure put on them.
I decided to be brave and use my flash today so I could get some high-speed stuff. I usually am not a fan of flash for two reasons. A) I am not very good with it, and B) a lot of times it is obvious flash was used and I love how natural light looks. But, I decided to give it a try, and I managed to get something good out of it (in my opinion at least)! Plus I finally figured a few things out which will help so much in future shoots.
I had busted this glass a couple of weeks ago but saved it in hopes of being able to use it for a picture. So I am pumped I found a use for it. And being the photo nerd I am, I am still saving it to use it again, pieces and all.
I walk through the same parking lot daily, and every day I have noticed the broken patches and thought how cool it could look. Today I finally decided to take the time and take a few. Not the most exciting or eye-catching photo, but I still kind of like it. Maybe because this is kind of how I am feeling at the moment. Or at least I am about to be feeling completely crushed like this.
