For some reason I have been on a huge baking/cooking kick lately. Usually I just slap something together for meals, like a typical college student. But, for the past few weeks I have been cooking myself real, delicious meals. And I have been experimenting with my own recipes too. It has been an adventure, and I think it is turning into some sort of therapy for me.
This was a pizza I made for dinner the other night, and goodness it was delicious. One of the best pizzas I have had, if I may be so vain.
Last week I found a recipe online for cupcakes for two. I thought it would be perfect for me and my new obsession with baking. I tried them out tonight, and they were wonderful! It was the first time I had made cupcakes from scratch, and I played with the recipe a little to make them funfetti cupcakes instead of plain vanilla. The frosting is also made from scratch, but that is a given with me.
Besides my baking and cooking spree, I have had a little obsession with plants and growing things. Grass seed is what I had available, so I have 3 different containers growing grass at the moment. The tins, which have been up on my blog recently, and this glass, and a big pot of it. I have just been craving color in my life recently I guess.
Yesterday was the most perfect day ever. I woke up, made pancake batter and went over to surprise Elliot because it was his birthday. His parents stopped over to eat with us too. We then headed to Maker’s Mark Distillery, to continue on the tradition we started on his birthday last year at Four Roses. It was so beautiful out there, but unfortunately my camera battery died after just a few minutes of the tour. After the tour we headed to have a delicious dinner at Belle Notte, which is where this picture is from. They have a huge (fake) tree right in the middle, with these beautiful lights on it. It was wonderful. After dinner we went to Elliot’s boss’s house, where we sang happy birthday to Elliot as he blew out the candles, ate cake, played Wii with their two-year old daughter, and sat in the hot tub drinking bourbon while it snowed. It was an absolutely perfect end to a perfect day.
And here is one of the few shots I was able to get at the distillery.
Sunday was such an excellent day. Slept in, lounged around, and spent time with Elliot. In the afternoon we decided to use his crock-pot for the first time, and man was it delicious. I was so appreciative of a lazy day that I didn’t even think of taking a picture until dinner, which was late and I was still just wanting to chill out and relax. Which is why this picture is pretty lame, but it was just too good not to show off.
I figured since today is thanksgiving my picture should be related. So, here is our delicious turkey before and after. I can’t even begin to say how thankful I am to be home this thanksgiving, I love my family so much! Thank you all for the incredible support you have given me!
Happy thanksgiving to all you wonderful people out there! I hope you all had an excellent day!
Both Elliot and I had Monday off from school and work, and so we had time to actually make a good dinner. We grilled steak and salmon, and had some veggies and biscuits, it was delicious. And such a nice treat since we never get to make a good dinner together.
My absolute favorite thing about summer is grilling out. This summer I have grilled out at least 2-3 times a week, usually just by myself. I love it. Tonight Elliot and I grilled some burgers and corn for dinner, a perfect summer meal in my opinion.
What a disappointing and sad evening. My beloved Kentucky Wildcats lost (for those of you who follow March Madness you know what I am talking about). I took this while making dinner and watching the game.
