New York City (Part Three)

As promised, here are (almost) all of the images I took with my phone while in New York City.

This church was directly across the street from the bed and breakfast that we stayed at in Chelsea. I was in awe every time I walked outside.

More from The Whitney Biennial (I cannot recall the artist though). The largest camera obscura I have ever experienced. This was by far one of my favorite things from the entire trip. I could have sat in that room for hours, and was wishing I had my tripod with so I could do a long exposure and show it off properly. The Whitney permanent collection.
Mira Schendel at the Hauser & Wirth Gallery. It is tough to see what exactly is going on in this image, but these drawings were between layers of plexiglass and then suspended from the ceiling. They were all on different planes, so depending on the angle you were looking the entire composition looked different. The red square was actually a ways behind and off to the right of the others as well. It was another one of my favorites from the trip.  Another piece by Mira Schendel. This room was filled with fishing line suspended from the ceiling. It was quite surreal.  The Guggenheim of course.  And from our flight home. 

319/365 – From Above

For the first time since freshman year I was able to go home for thanksgiving break!!! I really can’t believe I am staying up to post this, but, I want to stay on top of things. My flight left this (well, yesterday now) morning at 6:30 am. That meant that I was up at 3:45 am to get ready, and since I went to bed around 2:00 am, I am running on just about 2 hours of sleep. And today has been packed with family and friend time. I really couldn’t be happier to be home. The snow (which we got some fresh today; what a perfect welcome home!), the cold, the company, everything is just so excellent. Other than being completely exhausted that is, but it is all worth it.

Anyways, I knew that since I was flying I wanted my 365 to be related to that. So here is a photograph I took out the window when we were just about to begin landing in Minneapolis. Definitely not the greatest picture from a plane, but, my window was dirty, my lens wasn’t liking the situation, and I didn’t want people thinking I was some girl all excited about flying and needing to document everything by taking a million pictures. And yes, I just made a ton of excuses for myself, I apologize. And yes, I am rambling because it is late and I have been awake since 4:00 am, with 2 hours of sleep.

176/365 – Horseshoes

Goodness my life is busy lately. Time to update you all on what I have been up to and why I have been unable to post.

The morning of the fourth I took some product shots of designer sunglasses and glasses (Lilly Pulitzer) with Andrew Kung. I am not sure if those shots will be up on my blog at any point or not, but it was really a great learning experience. On the third I even got to sit in on the creative director meeting which was really nice. After taking the product shots I headed to Elizabethtown where Elliot’s parents live. They were having a big get together for the Fourth of July with all the extended family. We ate some good food and some of the men played some horseshoes. I took a ton of pictures while there, so expect more from that later on. We didn’t get back until late and I was too dead to get to editing pictures. Plus I was still behind at that point, so it would have involved editing a lot before I could to the ones I took that day.

I have to get to studying for my test tomorrow, and so further updates will have to wait. But, just one quick explanation for why I haven’t been posting this week. On Tuesday I went to put all the pictures I had taken over the weekend on my computer, only to find out that the hard drive on my laptop was completely out of space and I couldn’t fit any of the pictures. I ordered a Lacie terabyte hard drive Tuesday night. Last night I decided to delete a ton of pictures off my computer that were already backed up on my some external hard drive that I already have. By the time I got pictures organized on my computer and everything I was dead, and so I decided to wait on getting all caught up. And now tonight, I have time for posting one, but now have to study and read for a test that I haven’t even thought about until right now. So, hopefully tomorrow I can finally get all caught up.

100/365 – Drill

My 100th day! I didn’t think I would actually make it this long.

Today was an absolutely perfect day. Slept in, had a delicious, lazy, late breakfast with my incredible boyfriend, and was outside for most of the day enjoying the beautiful weather. Elliot was helping me on a mixed media painting I am working on for class, which is what he is drilling here.
