76/366 – focus

I woke up early before work yesterday to get this shot, but then was simply too exhausted when I got home last night that I didn’t want to deal with editing/posting. So here it is.
And had I uploaded yesterday I probably would have used a different one, but this one fits tonight’s mood better.

327/365 – Mystery

**Friday, December 2

It snowed yesterday!! Snow is quite possibly my favorite thing ever. I don’t think I could survive a winter without it. I could just sit and watch it snow and do nothing else and be perfectly content. I felt like a silly little girl while walking to class in it because I couldn’t stop smiling. There is just something about snow that immediately makes me smile, calms me down, and makes me incredible joyful. There is nothing else like it that has the same effect on me. Naturally when it snows I have a hard time putting down my camera, and so yesterday I asked Whitney if she would model for me out in the snow. I wasn’t quite successful at showing just how much it was snowing, but I am still very happy with a lot of the pictures I took.

257/365 – The Challenge

Once again tonight, I didn’t take a picture before class, and then it was dark when I was out of class. I originally wanted to go do some star trails tonight, but it was getting late, and I hadn’t had dinner, and there was a full (and very bright) moon which made it difficult to see any stars. So I was asking Elliot what I should take a picture of, and he said “will you do a challenge?” I told him yes, so her grabbed a few items from my house, and we then headed to his apartment. Once we got to his apartment he grabbed a few more things and put them on his table, and told me that I had to use at least one of the objects on the table. I could shoot anywhere, and use any lighting and combination of objects that I wanted, but I had to use one of those objects on the table. And it also had to be in black and white. As soon as I saw the knife I knew I wanted to do something with it, and then my mind made the connection to the hat.

I know the “blood” doesn’t look realistic at all, but hey, it was somewhat rushed, and my first time faking blood.

It was definitely a fun process (the challenge part), I think I might make this a common thing. So, by all means, if you would like to challenge me with something, let me know!

225/365 – Unpoppable Bubbles!

I finally found them!! I had told a couple of friends here in KY about these unpoppable bubbles I had played with a long time ago at home, and no one believed me. They must have thought I was crazy. Then, when I was at the grocery store with my mom while home in Minnesota, I found them! I showed my roommate, Whitney (who you have seen before), and we were both so entertained by them, so naturally it had to be a 365.

There are a few things I dislike about this picture, but, it was by far my favorite out of the bunch and I felt showed off the bubbles the best, so I decided to use it.

216/365 – Hosta Flowers

Yesterday was a pretty busy day for me. Lots of errands, and some needed time hanging out with Minnesota friends. I didn’t get a chance to take many pictures, I think I only took 6 in fact. This was really the only one that turned out, so you are stuck with a boring flower picture.

187/365 – Scratch

I am extremely accident prone, and pretty much every day, no matter what I am doing, I manage to get a bruise or scratch or lump or something. I was cleaning up and organizing my house today, and was reaching behind the metal shelves in the closet, but my arm got caught on the end of one of the poles, resulting in this scratch, along with 5 other ones below it. And yet, this is just a typical thing.

170/365 – Summer Dreams

Yesterday was, overwhelming to say the least. If you remember from a week or however long ago, I had mentioned how badly I need a new camera. Well, yesterday afternoon, my prayers were answered. A friend came over yesterday afternoon, with a wrapped box in hand. I opened it, and discovered that I had just been given a brand new, Nikon D90 kit. This may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people, but this was (and is) HUGE to me. Right at a time when I was needing one and trying to figure out how I could possibly pay for one, someone just hands me one.

This is by far one of the most generous gifts I have ever received. I was in shock for a good half hour, and then I became completely overwhelmed with emotions. I sat on my couch, thinking about the weekend and past weeks; with all of the shoots I have been doing with Andrew Kung, and then with this camera, I was overcome by how incredibly blessed I am. I am in awe of how perfect God’s timing is, and how God has used the people in my life.  Words cannot describe how thankful I am, and how excited I am to see what God has in store for me.

So, all that said, here are two exciting things about my beautiful new camera: my favorite lens, a 50mm, is now autofocus!! on my D40 it was only manual focus, so I am so excited that I will be able to use my nifty 50 more. And secondly, it shoots video! I shot a video last night, but am still trying to figure out music to go along with it, so that will have to wait a few days.

Last thing, and then I will stop rambling. I know this picture is pretty common, and not very exciting at all. But I love it, and it fits so well with how I am feeling at this point in time, so I don’t even care.
