Darren + Mary

A few weeks ago I drove from Kansas to Lexington, Kentucky to shoot the beautiful wedding of Darren and Mary. When I was in Lexington going to school for my undergrad I worked with Darren, and I was so excited when they asked me to be a part of their big day. The wedding took place on a beautiful summer afternoon, and was probably the most laid back wedding I have shot yet. It was so very obvious that these two are completely in love with each other and it was such a joy to be there to capture it. So, without further ado, meet Mr. and Mrs. Henderson!

270/366 – Empty
This past week has been a blur, and a bit of an emotional roller coaster. I am finally going to try to get caught up, though I didn’t take a photograph every day so I will have to make up for it at some point I guess.

*Thursday, October 11
Thursday I was in Lexington waiting for my fiance to finish school so we could head up to Cincinnati for SPE. It was beautiful out so I decided to venture to the place that I used as my little sanctuary and retreat while I lived there.

This isn’t very typical me, but I was drawn to it (after editing it over the course of 3 days). I am still sort of torn on if I like it or not though.

126/366 – Breakfast

*Friday, May 11
Friday we woke up extremely early to have our engagement pictures done at sunrise 🙂 We had some incredible lighting conditions so it was totally worth it.

Afterwards we went to a great little place in Lexington for an early birthday breakfast. Fresh fruit, bacon, and beignets. yum.

I unfortunately forgot my camera in the rush to get ready though, so I didn’t get any pictures. And the rest of the day was spent napping and meeting with friends for dinner, so I was stuck with this instagram picture yet again.

37/365 – Beautiful Timing

There is absolutely nothing that makes me happier than a stunning sunset at a perfect location. And after an immensely difficult day yesterday, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

More to come most likely.

And of course please remember to go vote for my portfolio and tell everyone that you know! You can vote once a day. I so appreciate each and every vote I can get, thank you for the support!

25/365 – Lexington Legends

What a night! I went to the Lexington Legends game tonight because my friend was proposing and he wanted me to take some pictures. It was such a cute proposal, and I am so glad I got to capture it! Plus, it was an absolutely perfect evening for a baseball game, the weather couldn’t have been better.

Trey and Deeanna

I had the privilege of shooting Jay and Deeanna’s wedding a few weeks ago. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day, and everything went so smoothly it was just wonderful! Congratulations you two!

We started off the day at Deeanna’s house with hair and makeup for her. The natural light in there was a dream, and with Ana Crane-Simpson doing the hair and makeup it was such a great start to the day.

After finishing up Deeanna’s hair and makeup we had a slight break before group shots at the hotel, so I managed to get some detail shots of her beautiful dress, jewelry, and shoes.

This was such a cute little memory from the day for me, a text from Trey while getting ready. It is a little hard to see here, but it says “still wanna do this? :)” Such a perfect example of how fun these two are.

Then it was time for the guys to get their pictures taken. My partner for the day, Susannah, shot most of them while I was with Deeanna while she got dressed.

And then came the girls. It was a bit tricky because Trey and Deeanna didn’t want to do an early reveal, so it took some coordinating to make sure they didn’t accidentally run into each other.

After wrapping things up at the hotel we headed to the beautiful Estes Chapel to get ready for the ceremony and do some pictures there.

Trey’s gift to Deeanna was so beautiful, and the card that was with it was so touching.

Because the chapel was so beautiful and so full of natural light we stayed inside to get some quick group shots.

We then headed across the street to get some pictures with the beautiful greens all around. The light couldn’t have been more perfect there.

Trey was waiting in the background, and for the first couple of shots I didn’t notice that he was in the frame. But it ended up being a fun little addition to the image in my opinion.

21/365 – Dream Sky

The clouds today were just unreal. I could have gone driving for hours finding new spots to take pictures.

Because they were just so great, and I really enjoyed two different pictures for different reasons, I thought I would share two today at once. Enjoy!

And the second image. I wish there was something of interest in the foreground, but the clouds help makeup for it in my opinion.

7/365 – Winery

A local winery hosted a jazz festival today, and one of my friends was playing, so a group of us went out for the day to enjoy some good music, the beautiful weather, and some good wine. We ended up going for a short walk around the vineyard as well. Overall, an absolutely fantastic day.

51/52 – Bleed

I have had this shot in mind for quite a few weeks, and finally got around to it this weekend. It isn’t quite as relevant as it was when I thought of it, but still is packed with meaning for me.

This may have been the longest it has ever taken to set up one of my pictures too. I had scoped out the location a couple of weeks ago, so I didn’t waste time trying to find one. But, once we got on location, I had to find the right angle for the camera, and then the right angle for me to lay down. Once I figured that out, I laid down amidst countless spiders and other creepy crawlies, and my friend attached red yarn to me and the trees around me. It was weird for me to not be the one physically setting up the shot, and I just had to lay there and direct him since I was attached to branches all around. It rained fairly hard twice while I was laying there, and I flicked off quite a few spiders throughout the process.

Overall it was quite the shoot. I wish that the yarn was more visible and obvious, and pulled tighter to prevent the slack, but it is just yet another lesson learned.

333/365 – Snow Flake

**Wow I got behind. I will explain the reasoning for each day with each picture.

Wednesday, December 8

Wednesday morning I dropped off my compter to have the plastic replaced. It was cracked on the edges, and there is a guy near Elliot’s work who gets paid by Apple to fix it for free. So I was without my computer until late Thursday night, at which point I didn’t have the energy to edit and post. But, we still had snow covering everything on Wednesday and so I really wanted another picture of it before it all melted. And, the last little covering we got was the fake looking snow, so everything was extra pretty.
