301/365 – Coffee House Show

Well, tonight my incredibly talented friend Eric Ruppel (who is definitely worth checking out) had a show at a coffee house in Lexington. Elliot and I went, and I brought my camera, planning on taking my picture there. But when I took out my camera to take one I realized my memory card was still in my card reader. So I was stuck with taking a picture on my phone…lame I know. But it was such a fun little evening out with Elliot so I am okay with it.

280/365 – Betting

**Catching up…

Saturday, October 16

Elliot’s wonderful cousin Hannah was in town from North Carolina this weekend, so as usual we headed to Keenland for the afternoon. For those of you who don’t know, Keenland is the horse track here in Lexington. It is a real pretty place, and tons of people go to spend the day there. People get there super early and tailgate and then go in and bet on the races, it is a blast. We had such perfect weather on Saturday, it was beautiful. And I actually won a little bit of money!

260/365 – Model Farm

Lexington, KY is currently hosting the World Equestrian Games, and today was college day. It was free for college students, so Elliot, Whitney, my friend Dave, and I hopped on a bus downtown Lexington, rode out to the horse park, and walked around all day. It was such a blast! We even got to pet a penguin!

This was taken in the Alltech tent, where they had a model of sustainable farm that they are working on.

There are more pictures to come for sure, but it will probably take a bit because this is the week when everything is due for every class pretty much. Let the stress begin.

I just opened an Etsy shop with my sister! Check it out!

251/365 – Horses

Last night was my first ever show. I had been accepted into a juried show, the Kentucky Showcase, and the reception was last night during Gallery Hop. Gallery Hop is a pretty cool thing. I can’t remember exactly how often it is, but a couple of times a year, on Friday night, all of the galleries in town open their doors and put out food and drink. People can just walk around downtown from gallery to gallery seeing all sorts of art (from beautiful and serene, to strange and creepy).

Lexington is hosting the World Equestrian Games in a week or so, and in honor of that they had a bunch of artists and schools and such decorate these fiber glass horses. They are all over the place in Lexington. Some are awesome, and some are just weird. I would like to go walk around and try to see them all sometime, although that may take a while.

205/365 – Tobacco

**Still catching up…

This one was from Monday, August 2. Again, I was on a shoot for my studio project, and we were on a little road right next to a huge tobacco field. Since Kentucky grows so much tobacco I figured it would be appropriate to be in my 365 at some point.

196/365 – Keenland

I didn’t get a chance to upload yesterday, so here is my 365 from last night. I went to Keenland (the racetrack here in Lexington) to try for some self portraits, and was able to get some lovely lens flare and golden hour pictures. Not all that exciting, but I enjoy looking at it so that says something right?

26/52 – Hope

This picture was taken on a shoot for my studio project, but it doesn’t really fit with it (at least any more). However, I love it for some reason, and so I am making it week 26.

I met with my professor the other day to talk one last time about my project before a final critique. I won’t reveal much, but goodness I am excited about where this project is going. It has really turned in to something great I think. I am so excited to compile all the images into the correct order and see them coming together into a project that makes sense and has so much meaning.

Also, this is potentially some big news, I will be making a book of the final images as suggested (and unofficially required) by my professor. The images that I have posted as my 52 week project are not necessarily the final images that will make it in the book, so there will be lots of surprises in there. As of right now I plan on trying to sell it as a limited edition, so if you think you will want one you should let me know! Thanks for sticking with me through all the changes in this project!

UK Arboretum

I am really not a fan of the UK Arboretum. It is severely lacking in so many things. There is one good garden and that is pretty much it. But, it is close, and when I have no other ideas for pictures it is a nice fallback most of the time. Here are some of the other ones from yesterday that I liked.

Here was the full set up, just for fun. Mitch (who I went with) made himself right at home.

And then Mitch had a mini photo shoot, which you can see on my Facebook page under portraits (become a fan!).

And as long as I was in a garden I figured I should probably get some pictures of flowers, which even though that is all I used to photography, I haven’t done in a while, so please excuse the poorly composed and uninteresting pictures.

188/365 – Tea Time

I went for a little walk at the Uk Arboretum yesterday, and there on the side of the path was a table overgrown with plants, and a tea set on it. I then realized it was an Alice in Wonderland set up, complete with a clock and cat in the tree. I just really loved how the various dishes looked in the green. I may upload a picture of the set up as well just for fun.
