moments of light

Today has been a perfectly gloomy, cool day. I long for days like today, like most long for the sun and warmth. However, I am clearly addicted to light and shadows, as you all can tell from one of my current series. It is days like today that make me love the little moments of light even more though. And as winter slowly creeps up on us, and the light becomes a different kind of beautiful, I find myself being even more attentive to these moments.

moments of light

I haven’t shared images from my phone in quite some time, or from my camera even for that matter. Life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately. But I have been shooting, and have a plethora of images to share, including lots of my favorite subject. In fact, I have so many of light, that I am going to break it up into multiple posts. So, without further ado, I hope you enjoy these moments of light on this fine Wednesday night.

Today I had to finish getting my prints ready for our show, and then had two meetings this afternoon. One of the meetings was an independent study for my grad photography work. Before the meeting I was feeling completely stuck on my work, and not excited at all about shooting. Luckily the meeting really helped clarify the direction I want to take, and got me excited about my work again. Hopefully I will have some images to share with you all from my grad work soon.

But, because of some serious thinking the past few days, and some complex and confusing concepts going through my head, I wanted something simple today.

I want on a kind of spur of the moment photo adventure with some friends this afternoon. We walked through some woods, got muddy feet, washed them in a fountain, and walked along a lake. And the weather was absolutely beautiful. It was a nearly perfect day.

I had quite a few shots I really liked, and that were more “me” but I really liked the lines and texture in this one.
