It had been almost a full year since I last shot a self-portrait, despite the fact that I have had the itch to create one for months. Last Friday evening I finally had some time to kill, and someone to assist, so we went out into the woods and took advantage of the perfect light.
I’ve been going back and forth on the editing of this one, so I may potentially post the original in the near future, as well as some others from the shoot that turned out, and maybe even some behind the scenes images.
After being in such a stunning place for the past few days, I was struggling with motivation for today’s 366 now that I am back in Kansas. I got this in my head and decided to go with it, and it ended up turning out much, much better than I had hoped.
And I am all caught up now, which I was not expecting to happen today!
Today one of my friends introduced me to the sculpture artist Daniel Wurtzel. His video titled Magic Carpet inspired this image, and potentially a series as well. His work is truly beautiful.

The life of a nanny 🙂
I am headed to South Dakota tomorrow to visit my twin nephews for the first time, so I am not sure when/if I will be able to post over the next 5 days. Expect pictures of babies when I return though.
Somehow my camera switched from raw to medium quality jpg, even though I didn’t go in that menu today. So the quality of this is not nearly as good as I would like.
I know I did something similar to this last summer, but I was just in the mood for a splash image, and this is what I came up with.
I hadn’t done a true high-speed shot yet this project, so I figured it was about time. Plus it was all I could think to do.
