58/365 – Home!

For the first time in 9 months I am finally back home in Minnesota! I left this morning and drove 12 hours, so it was such a relief to finally pull into my driveway and see my parents house.

And, please remember to go vote for my portfolio and tell everyone that you know! You can vote once a day. I so appreciate each and every vote I can get, thank you for the support!

39/52 – Caught

Not the image that I wanted for this week, but plan after plan fell through and I thought of this very last-minute (clearly). However, this one is fairly fitting with my life at the moment. My shots have been getting a lot more personal and meaningful as of late.

I sat and edited this shot in countless ways for hour and hours today. I am still not completely happy with it, but I decided I just needed to let it be.

Hopefully next week I will be able to do the image that I have had in my head for a bit.

328/365 – Spots.

**Friday, December 3

A day late again, of course. Yesterday there was a slight coating of snow when I got up in the morning. I was leaving my house fairly early to run some errands and I decided to take some pictures in my fron yard before heading out. The first one is the picture I chose for my 365, I just wanted to share the others as well.

And now the others that I liked:

229/365 – Water Balloons

I had been wanting to try this for such a long time, and yesterday I finally had a chance! I was inspired by the Christian Student Fellowship’s mission of bringing back the record of the world’s largest water balloon fight. This will be the third year they have held this event, and each year has been bigger. We held the record from last year’s fight, but a college this summer beat it. CSF had already been planning on having the water balloon fight again this year, but now there is the new goal of bringing back the record. It goes down tonight, at 11:55, so we will see what happens.

My lovely roommate Whitney helped me out with this adventure. We looked like little kids sitting in the front yard filling up water balloons, each with a wrist of silly bands on. We rigged up a little stand to hold the water balloons (which involved an old tripod, a stick, duct tape, rubber bands, and a chip clip. Whitney then used Elliot’s BB gun that he has left at my house to shoot the balloons. We had such a blast doing this, and have thought up some other ideas for a little series of balloons!

I am pretty pleased with the results, except for the high ISO I had to use. I think next time I either brave the intense sun or use a flash.

One final note: I liked most of the ones we did, and so I am just going to post them here instead of spamming with another post. The first one is the one that I have selected as my main 365 though.

And here are the rest.

This one was one of the first ones that I took, and I still didn’t have my shutter speed high enough which is why it is slightly blurred. But I still liked it so I am including it.

33/52 – Warmth

I took this while at home in MN, and out of 40 or so pictures, this is the only one that turned out pretty much. My camera was struggling with the whole autofocus thing, and my remote didn’t want to work all that well either. But, all that said, I really like this picture, I am so glad I had this one turn out. The jar is the same one that was used for my 365 (on day 221).

I thought and thought and thought on what I could title this, which is partly why I didn’t get it posted right away. This is pretty much all that I came up with that I didn’t hate.

162/365 – trying to hold on to my dreams

My parents got into town around 2:00am today. I hadn’t seen them since the end of December so I was so glad that they were able to come. But, it was a very busy day since we decided to take off the nasty wallpaper in the kitchen. Which is why I am uploading this so late.

I always am debating how personal to get on this blog. Part of me feels I should be open and honest about my pictures, but part of me feels I should keep all the personal junk to myself because it isn’t really that important.

This picture kind of has a lot of meaning for me despite being hastily thrown together.

144/365 – Chicken Wire

For the project that we are working on right now in class we have to chicken wire to build an armature for our piece. Susannah and I absolutely hate chicken wire, but, it does make for some interesting pictures (in my mind at least). I was going to upload this after watching a movie with Elliot, but fell asleep before we could even watch a movie, and then when I got home just wanted to go back to sleep.

143/365 – Shine On

I was so happy with how this turned out. It was kind of a random, rushed idea because I was helping Susannah on a studio project. Plus, this is straight out of camera (SOOC), which I love.

Also, it has been brought o my attention on multiple occasions that a lot of my pictures have grass, and glass in them. Which is true, because I love both of those things. So I apologize if things get repetitive.

137/365 – Bird

I was mowing my yard this evening, and saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. I looked over and there was this bird that was kind of trying to hop away from the mower. I ran inside quick to grab my camera and was able to get super close to him to take pictures. In fact, I was too close for my 50mm lens in a couple pictures. Pretty much straight out of camera (SOOC) again, just a bit of noise reduction since I had to have a higher ISO due to the fading sunlight.

I am looking to get some pictures printed to sell and such, but I don’t know the best place to do so. I need good quality but for decently cheap. Anyone have any recommendations?
