I need your help!

I don’t normally do this, but I am really trying to get my work out there at the moment. So, I just entered my self-portrait series into a contest, and there is a people’s choice category. I would REALLY appreciate all the votes I can get, so please go vote, and spread the word!!!

Here is one of the images that I entered, and the one that I prefer you would vote for:

47/52 – Within a Dream

Yesterday afternoon I watched the movie “The Science of Sleep” (which is such a great movie I might add), and was inspired by so many things in the movie. Immediately after watching it I got this image stuck in my head, and despite having other ideas for my self-portrait this week, this image just would not go away. It was the most vivid idea for a picture I have ever had, and the most persistent. And it turned out almost exactly how it was in my head.

And, I left the clouds hanging above my bed, it is wonderful.

My Recent Obsessions

For some reason I have been on a huge baking/cooking kick lately. Usually I just slap something together for meals, like a typical college student. But, for the past few weeks I have been cooking myself real, delicious meals. And I have been experimenting with my own recipes too. It has been an adventure, and I think it is turning into some sort of therapy for me.

This was a pizza I made for dinner the other night, and goodness it was delicious. One of the best pizzas I have had, if I may be so vain.

Last week I found a recipe online for cupcakes for two. I thought it would be perfect for me and my new obsession with baking. I tried them out tonight, and they were wonderful! It was the first time I had made cupcakes from scratch, and I played with the recipe a little to make them funfetti cupcakes instead of plain vanilla. The frosting is also made from scratch, but that is a given with me.

Besides my baking and cooking spree, I have had a little obsession with plants and growing things. Grass seed is what I had available, so I have 3 different containers growing grass at the moment. The tins, which have been up on my blog recently, and this glass, and a big pot of it. I have just been craving color in my life recently I guess.

46/52 – Smoke and Mirrors

This weekend I went on a mini spring break trip to Gatlinburg, TN with a group of some great friends. I had wanted smoke bombs for pictures for a long time, and since I was in TN I just had to buy some. This is not anywhere near my original idea, but I kind of love how it turned out.

Big, big thanks to all the helpers I had for this picture! I couldn’t have done it without you guys!

45/52 – Alone

I have had this image in my head for ages, maybe since I saw this awesome light in my friend’s room even. Thank you Dave for letting me rearrange your room for my picture.

I may potentially post a few others at some point, I had a tough time deciding.

Cut

Well, I started growing grass once again this spring. I just love how much it brightens things up. Unfortunately, the grass seed I bought this time is not nearly as pretty or lush as the stuff from last year. It does grow faster though, it has only been up for 3 days or so and it already needed a cut.
